A History That Sorts
Every download you have made, ordered by title, site, date or size — click a heading to sort, click it again to reverse. Grabbr remembers the order you chose, and the search box narrows it further — accents and all, so cafe finds Café.

Proxy Support
On a network that blocks the site you are downloading from? Point Grabbr at an HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS proxy in Settings and it routes your downloads through it. Nothing else in Grabbr uses it.

Dark, Light, and Readable
Grabbr follows your Mac's appearance, or you can pin it to Light or Dark from Settings — the whole window changes, title bar included. Every screen is built to WCAG 2.1 AA: text clears the contrast bar, every control can be reached and used from the keyboard, VoiceOver is told what each one is, and Reduce Motion turns the animations off.
Quality Control
Choose Best Quality, 4K, 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p. Grabbr merges separate video and audio streams for maximum quality automatically.
Browser Extensions

Cookie-Based Auth
Turn on Browser cookies in Settings and Grabbr signs in as you do — reading cookies from Chrome, Brave, Edge, Firefox, Vivaldi, Opera, Chromium or Safari for private, age-restricted or members-only content. It is off until you ask for it, and you name the browser you are actually signed into.
Subtitles
Optionally download auto-generated or community subtitles as .srt files — or write them straight into the MP4, so they travel with the video and switch on in any player. An MP3 has nowhere to put a subtitle track, so audio-only downloads are unaffected.

Using Firefox?
There is no Grabbr add-on for Firefox yet — Mozilla has to sign it before Firefox will
install one, and that has not happened. Only Chrome and Safari
get the extension today, and both come inside the app. Everything else works in Firefox:
paste a URL straight into Grabbr, and turn on Browser cookies
in Settings to have Grabbr sign in the way your Firefox profile already does.
Opening the app the first time

Common questions.
Is this legal?
Downloading videos for personal use is legal in most jurisdictions. Always respect copyright and a platform's Terms of Service. Don't redistribute downloaded content.
Does Grabbr require an internet connection?
Yes, to download videos. Business license keys are validated online once per day — if you're offline, Grabbr uses a 72-hour cached validation grace period. Personal use needs no license at all.
How does the business license work?
Buy a seat for each computer that uses Grabbr at work ($5 each, one-time). You get a single license key by email — paste it into Grabbr on each machine and you're done. Each machine claims a seat under its own name, so you can see who holds what and free a seat anytime when a computer is retired. Personal use needs no key at all.
What happens when YouTube changes things?
Grabbr uses yt-dlp under the hood. Clicking Update yt-dlp in the app's footer is usually all that's needed to fix any extraction issues. Updates are free forever.
How does Smart Trim work?
Grabbr uses the SponsorBlock community database to find sponsor segments, intros, outros, and other filler in YouTube videos — before the file is saved to your disk. You choose what happens to them: Cut them out, which is the default, or Mark as chapters, which keeps the video whole and writes each segment in as a chapter your player can skip over.
How do I set up the browser extension?
It works in Chrome and Safari, and the app shows you the steps for yours — open Grabbr and click + Extension. Safari's copy is installed with the app already: switch it on in Safari ▸ Settings ▸ Extensions. Chrome's is bundled too, and loads from the one-time setup banner the first time you open the app. There is no Firefox add-on yet. Once the extension is in place you have two ways to grab a video: click the Grabbr icon in your browser's toolbar and hit Send to Grabbr, or just press ⌘⇧Y on any video page. Either way, the URL goes straight to Grabbr — no copy-paste.
Can Grabbr download from Netflix, Disney+, or Spotify?
No. These services use DRM (Digital Rights Management) encryption that yt-dlp cannot legally bypass. Grabbr works with platforms that stream video openly — YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Twitch, and 1,800+ others. Spotify audio is also DRM-protected; SoundCloud and Bandcamp are not.
How do I update Grabbr itself?
Grabbr updates itself. It checks about once a week and, when a new version is out, shows you what changed and offers to install it in place — the download is signature-checked, and one that doesn't verify is refused. You can also check on demand, turn the automatic check off in the update panel, or download the DMG from this page and drag it into Applications yourself. Your preferences and history carry over. Separately, the download engine (yt-dlp) updates itself from the app footer — that is the faster fix for a YouTube 403 and is not an app update.
