Privacy Policy
- Stapl runs entirely on your PC. Opening, editing, compressing and OCR-ing a document (every operation) never sends the document, or any page or text within it, anywhere.
- No usage analytics, no accounts for personal use. Working on a document never touches the network at all.
- The only times Stapl contacts our servers: an automatic check for a new version about once a week (which you can turn off), and, only if you activate a business license, a check that the license is still valid. Neither one ever involves your documents.
1. Who We Are
Stapl is made by twoplus11 LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (twoplus11.com). When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means twoplus11 LLC.

2. Data We Do Not Collect
Stapl is built to be completely private:
- Your documents are yours. Merge, split, compress, OCR, redact, protect, watermark, fill & sign, and every other tool run locally on your PC. Nothing you open, edit, or save (and no page or piece of text within it) is ever uploaded to us or anyone else.
- No network connection to do its job. Compression runs on the Ghostscript engine bundled inside the installer; OCR runs on the bundled Tesseract engine. Both run entirely offline: Stapl never needs the internet to process a document.
- No usage analytics. The app does not report how you use it or track what you do to a file.
- No accounts for personal use. Personal use needs no sign-up and no key. (Business-license validation is the one exception; see the next section.)
3. Data We Do Collect
Business-license purchases. If you buy a Business License, you enter your company name and work email in our checkout form. We receive that information so we can deliver your license key and keep a record of the purchase. Payment is processed by Stripe: your card details go straight to Stripe, and we never see or store them.
License validation. When you activate a business license key, Stapl sends the license key, the app version, your computer's device name (so you can tell your own machines apart when managing seats), and a one-way hashed machine identifier to our licensing server to verify the license. That identifier is a truncated SHA-256 hash of a value read from the Windows registry (your machine's Cryptography MachineGuid). The hash cannot be reversed back into the original value. We never receive anything about your documents. Personal use never makes this call; it only happens once a business key has been entered, and only about once a day after that while the key stays valid.
Update checks. Stapl checks whether a newer Windows version exists, automatically about once a week (you can turn this off in the update panel), or when you check manually from the toolbar. This is an ordinary HTTPS request for a small, Windows-specific version file; it carries the app's current version number, no account, and nothing about your documents. Like any web request it also carries your IP address, and we record that the check happened, with a one-way daily hash of that address rather than the address itself, together with the browser-style identifier your PC sends with any web request, so we can count how many installs are active. If a newer version exists, you choose whether to open the download page in your browser. Nothing downloads or installs automatically.
4. Where Stapl Stores Things on Your PC
Everything Stapl saves stays inside your own Windows user account, and none of it is transmitted except as described in section 3:
- Preferences (language, window size, and whether automatic update checks are on) in
%APPDATA%\com.twoplus11.stapl. - Your business license key and its cached validation result, if you have one, in that same folder. The cache exists so the app keeps working for up to 72 hours without a network connection.
- The application itself in your
%LOCALAPPDATA%folder.
Uninstalling removes the application. If you want every trace gone, delete the AppData folder above as well.
5. If You Contact Us
If you email us (for support, beta feedback, or a question about your business license), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. If you submit our report form and attach a screenshot, we receive that too. We use this information only to reply to you and to fix the problem. We do not sell or share it.
6. Downloading the App
Stapl is downloaded from our website, which is hosted by a third-party web host. Like any website, the host may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. This happens at the web-server level when you visit the download page. The Stapl application itself does not transmit anything as part of the download.
7. Children's Privacy
Stapl is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Rights
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. The only personal data we hold is what you send us by email and, for business-license holders, the company name and email tied to your purchase. You can exercise these rights by contacting jeremy@twoplus11.com. We will respond within 30 days. Deleting your business-license record will deactivate the license.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
