Privacy Policy
- GifMint runs entirely on your PC. Your screen recordings never leave your computer.
- No usage analytics, no accounts. Recording and encoding a GIF never touch the network.
- The only times GifMint contacts our servers: a weekly check for a new version (which you can turn off), or if you buy and activate a business license (payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number). Your recordings are never involved.
1. Who We Are
GifMint is made by twoplus11 LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (twoplus11.com). When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means twoplus11 LLC.
Questions about this policy? Email us at jeremy@twoplus11.com.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
GifMint is built to be completely private:
- Your recordings are yours. Every capture is recorded and encoded locally on your PC. Nothing you record (no frame, no pixel) is ever uploaded to us or anyone else.
- No usage analytics. The app never reports what you record, how often, or in what mode. Its only routine network request is the update check described below.
- No crash reporting. There is no automatic crash reporting. If the app crashes, we don't know unless you tell us.
- Settings and license data are written safely. Preference and license writes are serialized and atomic, so an app close mid-write can't corrupt them.
- No accounts for personal use. Personal use needs no sign-up and no key. (Business-license validation is the one exception; see the next section.)
3. Data We Do Collect
Update checks. GifMint checks whether a newer version exists: automatically about once a week, or when you check manually from the control panel. This is an ordinary HTTPS request to api.twoplus11.com identifying the app, the platform, and the version you are running; like any web request it also carries your IP address. We record that the check happened, with a one-way daily hash of that address rather than the address itself, together with the browser-style identifier your PC sends with any web request, so we can count how many installs are active. Nothing in it describes you or your recordings.
Business-license purchases. If you buy a Business License, you enter your company name, work email, and number of computers in our checkout form. We receive your company name and email so we can deliver your license key and keep a record of the purchase. Payment is processed by Stripe: your card details go straight to Stripe, and we never see or store them.
License validation. When you activate a business license key, GifMint sends the license key and a one-way hash of a Windows machine identifier (a truncated SHA-256 that cannot be reversed) to our licensing server to verify the license, No device or computer name is sent: unlike the other apps in the fleet, GifMint has no seat-naming field, so there is nothing for it to send. Nothing about what you record is ever part of it. These requests are hosted on Microsoft Azure, which may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. GifMint only makes these requests once a business key has been entered.
4. Where GifMint Stores Things on Your PC
Everything GifMint saves stays inside your own Windows user account, and none of it is transmitted:
- Preferences (capture settings, options, window size and position) in
%APPDATA%\GifMint. - Your business license key and its cached validation result, if you have one, in your user profile folder.
- The application itself in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\GifMint, or inC:\Program Files\GifMintif you chose to install it for everyone who uses the PC. - The GIFs and PNGs you save, only in the folders you choose when saving them.
Uninstalling removes the application. If you want every trace gone, delete the folders above as well.
5. If You Contact Us
If you email us (for support, beta feedback, or a question about your business license), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. If you submit our report form and attach a screenshot or a GIF, we receive that too. We use this information only to reply to you and to fix the problem. We do not sell or share it.
6. Downloading the App
GifMint is downloaded from our website, which is hosted by a third-party web host. Like any website, the host may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. This happens at the web-server level when you visit the download page. The GifMint application itself does not transmit anything.
7. Children's Privacy
GifMint is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Rights
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. The only personal data we hold is what you send us by email and, for business-license holders, the company name and email tied to your purchase. You can exercise these rights by contacting jeremy@twoplus11.com. We will respond within 30 days. Deleting your business-license record will deactivate the license.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
