Terms of Service
1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Copyr for Windows, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Copyr.
These Terms form a legal agreement between you and twoplus11 LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our").
2. The Application
Copyr is a Windows file-copy application. It queues copy jobs and runs them: it can be paused and resumed mid-file, it waits for a drive that has been unplugged rather than failing, and it records an unreadable file in an end-of-job report instead of aborting the transfer. Content is written to a .copyr-part file and renamed into place only once it is complete, and optional SHA-256 verification compares what was read against what landed. Copyr can also move files: move is a per-job choice, never a saved default, it turns verification on, and it deletes each original only after that file's copy is completely written and verified, unless you turn verification back off. A name collision at the destination never interrupts a running job; it is recorded and presented for your decision once the transfer finishes. Everything runs entirely on your own PC. It is distributed from twoplus11.com/copyr/windows.
3. Beta Software
THIS IS A PRE-RELEASE ("BETA") BUILD OF COPYR FOR WINDOWS, MADE AVAILABLE FOR EVALUATION AND TESTING. IT MAY CONTAIN DEFECTS AND MAY BEHAVE UNEXPECTEDLY. DO NOT RELY ON IT AS YOUR ONLY COPY OF ANYTHING IRREPLACEABLE: BEFORE ERASING OR OVERWRITING A SOURCE, VERIFY THE COPY INDEPENDENTLY, AND KEEP BACKUPS OF ANY FILE YOU CARE ABOUT. WE MAY CHANGE, SUSPEND, OR WITHDRAW THE BETA AT ANY TIME.
Feedback you send us about the beta may be used to improve Copyr without restriction or obligation to you. Please do not include confidential material in a bug report. Send a description or a redacted example rather than the sensitive file itself.
4. License
Personal License (Free)
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Copyr on your personal computers for non-commercial purposes. Personal use means use by an individual for personal, non-revenue-generating activities. The personal tier is the complete application. There are no locked features, trial timers, or nag screens.
Commercial License ($5 per device, one-time)
If you use Copyr in connection with any business, employment, commercial, or revenue-generating activity, you must purchase a Commercial License for each device on which Copyr is installed. A Commercial License covers one device for the lifetime of the software, and the same key is valid for both the Windows and macOS builds. You may purchase a Commercial License at twoplus11.com/copyr/windows/#pricing. Copyr has no software license gate: the key is issued as your record of the purchase, and the application is identical whether or not one has been entered.
Your license is personal and non-transferable. You may not transfer, sublicense, or assign it to another person or entity.
5. Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Distribute, sell, rent, lease, or sublicense Copyr to any third party
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Copyr except where expressly permitted by applicable law
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use Copyr for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Use Copyr to access, copy, or delete files you do not own or are not authorized to modify
6. Third-Party Components
Copyr bundles open-source components (including pywebview, pythonnet and pywin32) used to draw its interface and access Windows APIs. Copyr also uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which is a Microsoft component governed by Microsoft's own terms. These components are the property of their respective authors and are governed by their own licenses, the full texts of which ship inside the application. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those licenses.
7. Intellectual Property
Copyr, its design, original code, and all associated intellectual property rights (excluding the third-party components described above) are owned by twoplus11 LLC. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the application. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
8. Updates and Availability
We may release updates to Copyr that add features, fix bugs, or change behavior. Updates are free for the lifetime of your license. Copyr checks for updates automatically about once a week and tells you when one exists; nothing is downloaded or installed without your consent, and you can turn the check off entirely in the app. We reserve the right to discontinue Copyr at any time without notice, though existing installations will remain functional.
9. Payments and Refunds
Commercial License purchases are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. Your license key is emailed to you immediately after payment. All sales are final. If you experience a technical issue that prevents Copyr from working on your machine, contact us at jeremy@twoplus11.com and we'll work to resolve it or issue a refund at our discretion.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
COPYR IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT COPYR WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS. COPYR COPIES FILES BETWEEN DRIVES AND LOCATIONS: HARDWARE FAILURE, A DISCONNECTED OR FAILING DRIVE, A FULL DESTINATION, OR AN UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN MAY RESULT IN AN INCOMPLETE COPY. WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO REPLACE AN EXISTING FILE AT THE DESTINATION, THE PREVIOUS CONTENTS OF THAT FILE ARE OVERWRITTEN. OPTIONAL CHECKSUM VERIFICATION REDUCES BUT DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE RISK THAT A COPY DIFFERS FROM ITS SOURCE. COPYR IS NOT A BACKUP PRODUCT AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR MAINTAINING INDEPENDENT BACKUPS. WHERE YOU CHOOSE MOVE, COPYR DELETES EACH ORIGINAL AFTER ITS COPY HAS BEEN WRITTEN, AND THAT DELETION IS NOT REVERSIBLE FROM WITHIN COPYR. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THAT A COPY SUCCEEDED BEFORE ERASING ANY ORIGINAL.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TWOPLUS11 LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF COPYR SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR LICENSE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY DOLLARS ($50 USD).
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Missouri.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of Copyr after any revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
