Terms of Service
The short version
Cheatr is free. Use it however you like - personal, commercial, on your own hardware or your employer's. No license to buy, no account to create.
1. Acceptance
These terms are between you and twoplus11 LLC, a single-member limited liability company registered in the State of Missouri, USA. By downloading or using Cheatr, you agree to these terms and to the fleet-wide twoplus11 terms of service. Where these app-specific terms differ from the fleet-wide terms, these terms control for Cheatr.
2. License
You may use Cheatr free of charge for any purpose, including personal use, commercial use, use on employer-owned hardware, and use to produce content you are paid for. There is no license to buy, no key to enter, and no account to create.
You may install Cheatr on as many of your own devices as you like.
3. What Cheatr does
Cheatr reads the frontmost app's menu bar through the macOS Accessibility API. When you click a menu command that has a keyboard shortcut, Cheatr records the command title, the shortcut, the elapsed time, the app's bundle identifier, and the timestamp. It uses this data to show you nudges when you click something the keyboard could have done faster, and to track which shortcuts you have learned.
Cheatr requires macOS Accessibility permission to function. Without it, Cheatr cannot read any app's menus and does nothing.
4. Your data
Everything Cheatr records stays on your Mac. The only network connection Cheatr makes is a weekly update check that contains no user data. Cheatr does not upload, transmit, or share your shortcut data with anyone, including twoplus11. The Forget Everything button in Settings erases all stored data instantly. See the privacy policy for full details.
5. Disclaimer
Cheatr is provided "as is". twoplus11 does not guarantee that shortcut detection will be complete or error-free in every app. Some apps build menus dynamically or use non-standard controls that Cheatr cannot read. This is a limitation of the Accessibility API, not a defect.
6. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA. For anything not covered here, the fleet-wide terms apply.
