The short version

Your shortcut data never leaves your Mac. The only connection Cheatr makes is a weekly update check. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no cloud.

1. What Cheatr accesses

Cheatr uses the macOS Accessibility API to read the frontmost app's menu bar. When it finds a menu command that has a keyboard shortcut, and you click that command with the mouse, Cheatr records five things:

  • The command title (for example, "Paste")
  • The keyboard shortcut (for example, Command-V)
  • How long the click took
  • The app's bundle identifier (for example, com.apple.TextEdit)
  • The timestamp

That is the entire schema. When a click lands on something that does not have a shortcut, or on something that is not a menu-bar command, Cheatr discards everything it saw the instant it is seen.

2. What Cheatr does NOT access

  • What you typed
  • What you clicked in a web page or document
  • Which files or documents you had open
  • Your internet traffic or browsing history
  • Your contacts, calendars, or email
  • Your microphone, camera, or location
  • Any cloud storage or remote server

This is not a promise. It is a structural fact: Cheatr records menu-bar commands that have shortcuts, and there is nowhere in it to put anything else.

3. Network connections

Update checks only. Once a week, Cheatr contacts twoplus11.com to check whether a newer version is available. This request contains no user data, no usage statistics, and no device identifiers. You can also check manually from the menu bar. Aside from this update check, Cheatr makes no other network connections: no telemetry, no license validation, no cloud sync.

4. Data we collect

None. twoplus11 does not collect telemetry, usage analytics, crash reports, or any other data from Cheatr. There is no opt-in and no opt-out because there is nothing to opt into.

5. Data storage

All Cheatr data stays on your Mac:

  • Observed commands and graduation records are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Cheatr/

The Forget Everything button in Settings erases all stored data instantly. Uninstalling Cheatr and removing this directory deletes everything.

6. Children

Cheatr does not collect data from anyone, including children. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no online features directed at children.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. For anything not covered, the fleet-wide twoplus11 privacy policy applies.
