Where DaisyDisk earns its $9.99
DaisyDisk has been refined since 2009 and it shows — the drag-to-collector flow, where you pile up everything you want gone and delete it in one pass, is genuinely nicer than deleting item by item, and the app is beautifully polished. If you clean up in bulk regularly, $9.99 is not much to pay for that. Diskr covers the same core ground for nothing, and deliberately never hard-deletes: everything goes to the Trash, behind a confirmation.

- Is Diskr really free?
- Personal use is free forever. Commercial use is a one-time $5 per device.
- Why do the sizes differ from Finder?
- Diskr measures allocated on-disk bytes rather than logical file size, so it reflects the space you would actually reclaim. Finder's Get Info reports logical size, which is usually a little smaller.
- Can Diskr delete files?
- It can move them to the Trash, always behind a confirmation dialog, and every parent size updates immediately. There is no hard delete, so anything you remove is recoverable.
