Drag any audio file onto the window from File Explorer, or a video, and Trimr pulls the sound out for you. Ctrl O to browse for files instead.
Shape it on the waveform
Drag to select (or press I and O), then trim, cut, remove silence, normalize, fade, or change speed. Space plays exactly what you'll export: playback skips your cuts, so you hear the final edit first.
Export
Pick M4A, MP3, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, OGG or OPUS, or an iPhone ringtone. Every export writes a new file: Trimr will not write over the file it's reading, or over any other original sitting in your queue.

A real waveform editor
See your audio, drag to select, zoom to the millisecond, and play exactly what you'll export. Fully keyboard-driven: I/O set the selection, Space plays, Z zooms to it, F fits the whole file. Drop in a video and Trimr pulls its soundtrack out automatically.
Trim & cut anything
Keep only the selection, or cut out as many sections as you like. Cuts preview live (playback skips them so you hear the final edit before exporting) and every cut is one click to restore from the chip list below the waveform.
Non-destructive
Silence, gone
Find every quiet gap (you choose how quiet and for how long), see them highlighted on the waveform, and remove them all in one click. Or split the file into separate tracks at each silence.
Loudness done right
Measure real loudness (LUFS + true peak), then normalize to −14 LUFS for streaming, −16 for podcasts, −23 for broadcast, or a −1 dB peak: a true two-pass EBU R128 pass, measured on the edited audio.

Fades you can actually hear
Smooth or linear fade in and out, drawn right on the waveform. The preview now rides the same curve Trimr renders on export, so you hear the ease in and out before you commit. It used to sound identical to no fade at all until you exported.

Speed, pitch intact
Slow down to 0.5× or speed up to 3× with pitch preserved: the preview plays at the new speed, so a 2× lecture still sounds like the speaker, not a chipmunk.
Join with crossfade
Combine files in any order into one seamless track, with an optional crossfade between them. Join follows your queue order, so reordering the file list reorders the join.
iPhone ringtones
Select up to 40 seconds and get an iPhone-ready .m4r with a gentle automatic fade-out. Any song, any recording, your ringtone.

Your originals are never touched

You're testing the first Windows build.
Trimr has been on the Mac since July, sharpening with almost every release. This is the Windows port's first public build, carrying every core tool through version 1.2.0: the same engine guarantees, rebuilt on Windows APIs. A few of the newest Mac additions (in-app tag editing, lossless trims for compressed formats, manual split points) haven't made the jump yet.

Everything Trimr needs (including the bundled FFmpeg engine that powers every edit) is inside the installer. It does use the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime to draw its interface, which ships with Windows 11 and reaches almost every Windows 10 machine through Windows Update. On the rare PC without it, Trimr will say so on launch and Microsoft's free installer is a one-click fix.
No admin rights needed
Trimr installs per-user into
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Trimr, so there's no UAC prompt and no argument with your IT department. Uninstall from Settings → Apps → Installed apps like anything else.Windows may warn you the first time. Here's the honest story.
Trimr is Authenticode-signed, so the publisher shows as a real, verified name rather than "Unknown publisher." But signing alone does not switch SmartScreen off: Microsoft builds reputation per file, and a brand-new build starts with none. Until this exact file has been downloaded enough times, you may still see a blue "Windows protected your PC" box.

Common questions.
Is Trimr really free?
Personal use is free forever: every tool, no account, no trial timer, no watermarks. It is free for commercial use at work too, with no license to buy and no account.
Does Trimr upload my audio anywhere?
No. Every edit and export runs entirely on your PC: nothing you open or export is ever uploaded, and there's no account and no usage analytics. The only time Trimr contacts our server is to check for updates (which sends the app version). Your audio is never involved.
Will it change my original files?
No. Your trims, cuts, fades, speed and loudness changes are applied when you export, and every export (including each track of a join or a ringtone) writes a new file. Trimr will not write over the file it's reading, and it will not write over any other original sitting in your queue either. Replace existing files replaces whatever is already at the name it wants in the destination folder, which is usually a leftover export from an earlier run; it cannot reach a file you added.
What formats can it read and write?
Out: M4A, MP3, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, OGG and OPUS, plus iPhone ringtones (.m4r), with bitrate, sample-rate and mono/stereo control. In: almost any audio format, or drop in a video and Trimr extracts its soundtrack.
How do I make an iPhone ringtone?
Open the file, select the part you want (up to the 40-second ringtone limit) and choose Ringtone. Trimr exports an iPhone-ready
.m4r with a gentle automatic fade-out; sync it to your iPhone the way you normally would.What do the loudness presets mean?
They're EBU R128 loudness targets: −14 LUFS is the standard for streaming platforms, −16 LUFS for podcasts, and −23 LUFS for broadcast. Trimr measures your edited audio and applies a true two-pass normalize so exports land on target, or you can normalize to a −1 dB peak instead.
Why did Windows show a blue "protected your PC" warning?
Because the file is new, not because it's unsigned. SmartScreen builds trust per file over downloads and time, and a fresh build starts from zero. Code signing gives you a verified publisher name in the dialog but does not skip it. Click More info → check the publisher → Run anyway. See the install section for the full explanation.
How do I update Trimr?
It updates itself. Trimr quietly checks about once a week and badges the update button when there's something new (never a pop-up), and you can turn the check off. Click it and Trimr downloads the new installer, verifies its signature and version before running anything, installs over itself and reopens. If any of those checks fail it deletes the download and sends you here instead. Your settings carry over.
Is there a Windows version?
Yes, you're looking at it. This is the first Windows build. It's the same engine and the same tool set as the Mac app, rebuilt on Windows APIs rather than ported through a compatibility layer. A few of the newest Mac features (in-app tag editing, lossless trims for compressed formats, manual split points) haven't landed here yet. See the Beta section above before you rely on it for anything you can't lose.
How is this different from the Mac version?
Same engine, same tools, same non-destructive guarantees, rebuilt on Windows APIs rather than macOS ones. Two things are genuinely different: this build updates itself in place, where the Mac build asks you to re-download by hand, and the language picker shows a code like EN instead of a flag, since Windows can't render flag emoji.
Where do my settings live, and what does uninstalling remove?
Preferences sit in
%APPDATA%\Trimr. Uninstalling removes the app from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Trimr; delete those two if you want every trace gone. Nothing is written outside your user account, and nothing goes in the registry beyond the uninstall entry.
