Privacy Policy
- Aliasr renames files entirely on your PC. It only ever sees the files you add, and nothing about them (names, contents, metadata) ever leaves your computer.
- No usage analytics, no accounts. Renaming never touches the network, and nothing is ever recorded to a server.
- The only times Aliasr contacts our servers: if you buy and activate a business license (payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number), or if it checks for updates (which we count; see “Update checks” below).
1. Who We Are
Aliasr is made by twoplus11 LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (twoplus11.com). When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means twoplus11 LLC.
Questions about this policy? Email us at jeremy@twoplus11.com.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
Aliasr is built to be completely private:
- Your files are yours. Aliasr only accesses the files and folders you add to it, and everything it does (reading names, reading EXIF dates, previewing, renaming) happens locally on your PC. No file, filename, or metadata is ever uploaded to us or anyone else.
- Renaming happens on your disk. When you press Apply, Aliasr renames the files in place on your PC. Undo logs and the crash-recovery journal are written locally so a batch can always be reversed or recovered. They never leave your machine.
- Everything stays local. Your preferences, presets, undo logs, and recovery journal are stored in
%APPDATA%\Aliasron your own PC. Nothing is synced. - No usage analytics. The app does not report how you use it or track what you do with your files. Its only routine request to us is a check for a new version, and you can turn it off in Settings.
- No accounts for personal use. Personal use needs no sign-up and no key. (Business-license validation is the one exception; see the next section.)
3. Data We Do Collect
Business-license purchases. If you buy a Business License, you enter your company name, work email, and number of computers in our checkout form. We receive your company name and email so we can deliver your license key and keep a record of the purchase. Payment is processed by Stripe: your card details go straight to Stripe, and we never see or store them.
License validation. When you activate a business license key, Aliasr sends the license key and a one-way hash of a Windows machine identifier (a truncated SHA-256 that cannot be reversed) to our licensing server to verify the license. It also sends the device name you choose to show, so you can tell your own computers apart when managing seats. We never receive anything about your files or their names. These requests are hosted on Microsoft Azure, which may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. Aliasr only makes these requests once a business key has been entered.
Update checks. Aliasr checks whether a newer version exists: automatically about once a week (you can turn this off), or when you check manually. This is an ordinary HTTPS request to api.twoplus11.com identifying the app, the platform, and the version you are running; like any web request it also carries your IP address. We record that the check happened, with a one-way daily hash of that address rather than the address itself, together with the browser-style identifier your PC sends with any web request, so we can count how many installs are active. Nothing in it describes you or your files. If you then choose to install the update, Aliasr downloads the installer from twoplus11.com and verifies its digital signature and version before running it.
4. Where Aliasr Stores Things on Your PC
Everything Aliasr saves stays inside your own Windows user account, and none of it is transmitted:
- Preferences and presets (your saved rule stacks, language, window size) in
%APPDATA%\Aliasr. - Undo logs and the crash-recovery journal for each batch, in
%APPDATA%\Aliasr\undo, so a rename can be reversed or recovered even after you quit and relaunch. - Your business license key and its cached validation result, if you have one, in your user profile folder. The cache exists so the app keeps working for a period without a network connection.
- The application itself in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Aliasr, or inC:\Program Files\Aliasrif you chose to install it for everyone who uses the PC.
Uninstalling removes the application. If you want every trace gone, delete the folders above as well.
5. If You Contact Us
If you email us (for support, beta feedback, or a question about your business license), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. If you submit our report form and attach a screenshot, we receive that too. We use this information only to reply to you and to fix the problem. We do not sell or share it.
6. Downloading the App
Aliasr is downloaded from our website, which is hosted by a third-party web host. Like any website, the host may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. This happens at the web-server level when you visit the download page. The Aliasr application itself does not transmit anything.
7. Children's Privacy
Aliasr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Rights
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. The only personal data we hold is what you send us by email and, for business-license holders, the company name and email tied to your purchase. You can exercise these rights by contacting jeremy@twoplus11.com. We will respond within 30 days. Deleting your business-license record will deactivate the license.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
