Privacy Policy
- Anchr chooses which audio device your Mac uses, entirely on your Mac. It reads the list of devices and sets which one is the system default — nothing about your devices ever leaves your machine.
- It has no microphone access, and cannot get any. Anchr picks which microphone your other apps record from. It never opens an audio stream and contains no code that could — see section 2.
- Anchr makes a weekly check for a new version, which we count — see section 3. You can turn it off. Only if you enter a business license key, it also re-checks that key with us about once a day; with no key stored, that request never happens. If you buy a business license, that purchase is handled by Stripe — see section 3.
1. Who We Are
Anchr is made by twoplus11 LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (twoplus11.com). When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means twoplus11 LLC.

2. Data We Do Not Collect
Anchr is built to be completely private:
- No microphone access. None. Anchr asks for no permission of any kind, because none is needed: enumerating audio devices and setting the system default are unprivileged. Capturing audio is the thing macOS gates, and Anchr contains no capture code — it chooses which microphone your other apps record from and never opens one itself. The build refuses to ship if a microphone usage description ever appears in the app bundle.
- Your audio is never touched. Anchr moves a system setting — a number identifying a device. It does not process, record, route, mix or listen to any audio, and no sound passes through it. If you switch on “mute the built-in speakers when sound falls back to them”, Anchr also sets the built-in speakers' volume at that moment, and only theirs — that is a system setting too, and it is off by default.
- What Anchr stores on your Mac. Your ordered device preferences for output, microphone and system sounds; the devices you have told it never to use; your switches; and the last-seen name of each device, so a device that is currently unplugged can be shown by name instead of an identifier; and the language you picked. All of it lives in Anchr's own preferences on your Mac, and Settings can export it to a file you control or reset it entirely.
- No usage analytics. The app does not report usage or track what you do. The requests it makes to us are the update check described in section 3, which you can turn off, and — only if you have entered a business license key — the daily re-check of that key.
- No account, ever. Anchr needs no sign-up and has no login screen. Personal use needs no key at all. Commercial use means pasting a license key into the app's License panel, which activates that key with us — section 3 says exactly what that request carries.
3. Data We Do Collect
Business-license purchases. If you buy a Business License, you enter your company name, work email, and number of devices in our checkout form. We receive your company name and email so we can deliver your license key and keep a record of the purchase. Payment is processed by Stripe — your card details go straight to Stripe, and we never see or store them.
The business license check. Your license key is emailed to you when you buy. Entering it in the app's License panel activates that key with us, and the app re-checks it about once a day while you are online. Each check carries the key, a truncated SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware serial number, the app's version, and a device name — by default your Mac's own name — so that a business can tell its seats apart. It carries nothing about your files or what you did in the app. With no key entered, none of this ever happens. If our server cannot be reached, the app keeps working on the cached result for 72 hours.
Update checks. Anchr checks whether a newer version exists — automatically about once a week, and whenever you check manually. You can switch the automatic check off. The request goes to api.twoplus11.com and identifies the app and the version you are running; like any web request, it also carries your IP address. It says nothing about your Mac, your disks, or your files.
What we record when it checks. We log each check, so that we can tell roughly how many people still use the app: which app it was, the version reported, the date, the user-agent string, and a salted hash of your IP address — never the address itself, and the salt changes every day. Nothing in that record is tied to your name, an account, or a license. If you go on to install the update, that download is counted the same way. With no license key entered, this is the only thing the app ever sends us.
4. If You Contact Us
If you email us — for support or a question about your business license — we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. We use that information only to reply to you. We do not sell or share it.
5. Downloading the App
Anchr is downloaded from our website, which is hosted by a third-party web host. Like any website, the host may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. This happens at the web-server level when you visit the download page — the Anchr application itself does not transmit anything.
6. Children's Privacy
Anchr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Your Rights
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. The only personal data we hold is what you send us by email and, for business-license holders, the company name and email tied to your purchase. You can exercise these rights by contacting jeremy@twoplus11.com. We will respond within 30 days. Your business-license record is what evidences the license, so deleting it also ends the license.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
