Privacy Policy
- AltFormr runs entirely on your Mac. Your files never leave your computer.
- Converting is completely offline: no usage analytics, no tracking, no accounts. The only thing AltFormr sends us on its own is a weekly check for a new version, which we count (see section 3) and which you can turn off.
- AltFormr is free for everyone. There is no license to buy and no key to activate. If you enter a supporter key, the app sends that key, and nothing else, to confirm it (see section 3). Your files are never involved.
1. Who We Are
AltFormr is made by twoplus11 LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (twoplus11.com). When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means twoplus11 LLC.

2. Data We Do Not Collect
AltFormr is built to be completely private:
- Your files are yours. Every conversion runs locally on your Mac. Nothing you open, convert, or save is ever uploaded to us or anyone else.
- Converting is completely offline. The conversion engine never needs the internet, and there is no key and no activation: AltFormr is free for everyone. The only request AltFormr makes on its own is the update check described in section 3.
- No usage analytics. The app does not report how you use it or track what you convert. Its only routine request to us is a check for a new version, and you can turn it off in the sidebar, under Updates.
- No accounts. AltFormr needs no sign-up and no key to run, and nothing in it is held back. (The one request you can ask it to make is a supporter-key check; see the next section.)
- Only the files you hand it. AltFormr reads the files you drop, open or paste in, and, when you drop a folder, everything inside it including its subfolders. It writes converted files next to each original or in the folder you pick. With Replace selected it will overwrite a file already at that name in the destination, but never one you put in the queue as a source. It does not scan your disk, and none of it involves us.
3. Data We Do Collect
Update checks. AltFormr checks whether a newer version exists: automatically about once a week, and whenever you check manually. You can switch the automatic check off in the sidebar, under Updates. The request goes to api.twoplus11.com and identifies the app and the version you are running; like any web request, it also carries your IP address. It says nothing about you, your Mac, or your files.
What we record when it checks. We log each check, so that we can tell roughly how many people still use the app: which app it was, the version reported, the date, the user-agent string, and a salted hash of your IP address (never the address itself, and the salt changes every day). Nothing in that record is tied to your name, an account, or a license. If you go on to install the update, that download is counted the same way.
Supporter keys. AltFormr is free, and there is no license to activate. Tipping happens on twoplus11.com, not in the app, and the app handles no payment of any kind. If you have tipped and received a supporter key, entering it in Settings sends that key, and only that key, to api.twoplus11.com so that we can confirm it and show the year you became a supporter. Nothing goes with it: no name, no computer name, no hardware identifier, not even which version you are running. Once confirmed, the check repeats at most once a day while the key is still valid, and stops the moment you remove the key. With no supporter key entered, AltFormr never makes this request. A supporter key unlocks nothing and limits nothing; every part of AltFormr works the same with or without one. These requests are hosted on Microsoft Azure, which may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes.
4. If You Contact Us
If you email us (for support, or a question about a tip or a supporter key), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. We use that information only to reply to you. We do not sell or share it.
5. Downloading the App
AltFormr is downloaded from our website, which is hosted by a third-party web host. Like any website, the host may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes. This happens at the web-server level when you visit the download page. The AltFormr application itself does not transmit anything.
6. Children's Privacy
AltFormr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Your Rights
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. The only personal data we hold is what you send us by email and, if you have tipped, the email address and optional first name tied to your supporter key. You can exercise these rights by contacting jeremy@twoplus11.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
